Opened in 1985 in the Red Light district of Amsterdam, the Hash, Marijuana and Hemp Museum  attracts hundreds of curious tourists from around the world.

The detailed expositions of the museum display the 8000-year history of marijuana use for various purposes. Visitors can learn about different types of the plant and gain a better understanding of how to grow it properly by checking out the indoor cannabis garden located inside the museum.

Besides the history of the plant, the museum features an impressive collection of pipes and other smoking accessories along with paintings and engravings. You can also learn about the use of marijuana for medical purposes, for example that the first documented marijuana use dates back to 1554, when Dutch doctors recommended it as a cure for ear pain, migraine and insomnia. The museum also displays all kinds of products made from hemp and cannabis oil, from lamp oil to furniture polish to pants, eyeglasses and kitchenware.

The souvenir shop has cute items made out of the magic plant, including shampoos, cosmetics, creams and candy.
