modern toilet

This one goes out to the folks who love to have long sessions in the toilet. There is a rapidly developing chain of restaurants in the capital of Taiwan where you can literally have a good time sitting on the toilet.

At first, it might seem disgusting to sit on the toilet and eat from the plate shaped like a bedpan, a chamber pot or bidet, and wipe your hands and mouth with toilet paper. Moreover, it has a poop-themed décor and furniture – the chairs are acrylic toilets, which pull up to sinks with glass table tops, the walls are decorated with showerheads, and the poop-shaped lights hang from the ceiling. The drinks, of course, are served in mini urinals. The  menu items have poop-related names, but the food itself is poop-free and quite good – there are curries, hot pot, and lots of deserts. The deserts are shaped like poop, of course.

As odd as it may seem, the "Modern Toilet" restaurant is very popular and has spread throughout Asia. According to its owner, Wang Tzi-Wei, toilet is the place where a person starts feeling hungry. Although some film freaks might relate the feel of the place to a scene in Bunuel's Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie, the owner got inspired by the Japanese robot character Dr.Slump, who loved to play with poop. After success of his ice cream shop that sold swirls of ice cream served in mini toilets, Wang Tzi-Wei decided to expand and it turned out to be a great success.
