Djibouti is a vast wasteland with a very hot climate and the third lowest point on Earth - Lake Assal. This is the destination to see the volcanic lands, fumarole fields and mountain ranges to explore and there are definitely some really off the beaten path places on the way. The county is home to the nomadic Afar tribe with their unusual way of life and customs.

The Smoking Fumarole fields of Djibouti

Boina and Garbes fumarole gas-emitting fields are so loud - one can hear the hissing from far away. This primordial landscape was the filming location of the first Planet of the Apes movie.
